At Lumiere Children’s Therapy, our mission is to deliver a comprehensive range of transformative services that cater to the unique needs of each child and family. With our science-based therapeutic offerings and therapeutic teaching approach, we specialize in supporting children facing crisis, behavior challenges, developmental disabilities, delays, and autism.

Step 1:

Schedule a consultation via phone, please reach us directly at (312) 242-1665. During this call, we will discuss your concerns about your child’s behavior in-depth and schedule an initial assessment to further evaluate your child.

Step 2:

Before starting any treatment, it is essential for your child to undergo a comprehensive assessment. This assessment involves a thorough review of your child’s history, including the presenting symptoms and how those symptoms have affected their daily functioning. This step helps to gather important information that informs the comprehensive treatment plan we will work on together.

Step 3:

After the assessment process is complete, our team will promptly connect with you and your insurance provider to provide treatment recommendations and discuss the timeline for initiating services. We understand the importance of timely communication and will ensure that you are well-informed about the next steps in your treatment journey.

🧩 Let’s Talk Puzzles and Child Development! 🌟

Did you know that puzzles offer more than just hours of entertainment? They also play a vital role in your child’s development! 🌈 Here are some incredible ways puzzles can benefit your little one:

* Cognitive Skills: Puzzles are fantastic for boosting cognitive abilities. As children piece together different shapes and colors, they enhance their problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and spatial awareness. It’s like a workout for their brain!

*Fine Motor Development: Those little hands get a workout too! Picking up puzzle pieces, manipulating them, and placing them in the right spot improves fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and finger dexterity. It’s like a mini gym for their fingers!

* Patience and Persistence: Completing a puzzle requires patience and perseverance. As children tackle challenging puzzles, they learn to stay focused, overcome obstacles, and celebrate their accomplishments. It’s a wonderful way to foster a growth mindset.

Are you looking to support your child’s development and enhance their daily activities? Our occupational therapy experts have gathered some valuable tips to help you make the most of your child’s potential. Check them out:

* Sensory Play for Sensational Skills: Encourage your child to engage in sensory play, such as exploring different textures, playing with sand or water, or experimenting with scented materials. These activities enhance sensory processing skills and promote cognitive and motor development.

* Fine Motor Fun: Boost your child’s fine motor skills with activities like coloring, drawing, cutting with child-safe scissors, playing with building blocks, or threading beads. These activities strengthen hand-eye coordination, finger dexterity, and precision.

 * Daily Routine Chart: Create a visual schedule or chart with pictures to help your child understand and follow daily routines. This can reduce anxiety, improve time management skills, and foster independence.

* Break It Down: When teaching new tasks, break them into smaller, manageable steps. This approach helps your child develop problem-solving skills, build confidence, and promotes successful task completion.

* Calming Strategies: Teach your child calming techniques like deep breathing exercises, listening to soft music, or using a sensory corner with soothing textures or visual aids. These strategies can help regulate emotions and promote self-regulation.

Remember, every child is unique, and progress may vary. If you have concerns or questions, consult with a qualified occupational therapist for personalized guidance.

Wondering how ABA therapy can help your child flex their social skills? Here are some of the top ways:

👉🏼Social Stories: Using social stories, we engage children in interactive narratives that teach important social skills, such as turn-taking, sharing, and understanding emotions. These stories provide valuable guidance and promote social understanding.

👉🏼Role-Play and Modeling: Through role-play activities, we create opportunities for children to practice social interactions in a safe and supportive environment. By modeling appropriate behaviors and providing feedback, we help children develop effective communication and socialization skills.

👉🏼Peer Engagement: Encouraging interactions with peers is crucial for social growth. We facilitate positive peer relationships by promoting shared interests, facilitating group activities, and teaching children how to initiate and maintain conversations.

ABA therapy equips children with tools to identify and understand emotions, both in themselves and others. Through activities and exercises, we help children develop emotional regulation strategies, fostering empathy and successful social interactions.

Empowering children on the autism spectrum to embrace independence in their daily activities is a journey filled with progress and triumphs! Here are some valuable tips and strategies to support your child’s growth.⁣

Create a Structured Routine: Establishing a predictable schedule can provide a sense of security and help children with autism navigate their day with confidence. Consistency and visual schedules can be powerful tools in promoting independence.
Break Tasks Down: Complex tasks can be overwhelming, so breaking them into smaller, manageable steps is key. This approach allows children to focus on one step at a time, building their skills gradually.
Utilize Visual Supports: Visual cues and prompts offer clarity and enhance understanding. Visual schedules, checklists, and visual reminders can guide children through daily activities, encouraging independence and reducing anxiety.
Incorporate Sensory Strategies: Sensory integration techniques can help children with autism engage and regulate their senses. Consider using sensory tools, such as fidget toys or weighted blankets, to create a calm and focused environment for better participation.
Celebrate Progress: Recognize and celebrate every milestone, no matter how small. Encouragement and positive reinforcement are powerful motivators that build confidence and self-esteem. ⁣
