ABA Therapy is a safe and effective multifaceted approach to teaching a multitude of skills that makes positive and meaningful behavior change possible. We offer a high level of supervision that goes above and beyond the required state guidelines.
“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.”
— Kay Redfield Jamison
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy consists of individualized behavior interventions and teaching of skills to children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) create these treatment plans with parents and continuously monitor and modify the child’s treatment to optimize growth. Therapy is offered in our center as well as at home to maximize success with reducing challenging behaviors and teaching the necessary skills to reach age appropriate milestones.
We create individualized treatment plans centered around your family’s needs and goals. These can be comprehensive programs targeting a variety of areas such as: imitation, pre-academic, social skills, communication and self-help skills and are tailored to each child. We also create focused programs as part of our inclusive transition planning to work towards your child’s goal for independence.
Our goal is to give your child all the tools to feel comfortable in his/her community, school and at home. Whether it is to learn appropriate social skills, develop everyday basic life skills, be able to control their outbursts or establish the focus and attention in school, this treatment is a critical piece in a child’s therapy plan.
Meaningful & Lasting Results
We know that growth can only be measured when new skills and abilities last over time and across settings. That is why we emphasize having a combined approach, ABA delivered at our center and in the home, in order to address the concerns that arise across a variety of circumstances. With a combined approach, the skills taught within our center can carry over to the home and vice versa. Parents get to see progress first-hand and children get to practice their new skills with familiar items, people and routines.
While an adult needs to be home during home-based therapy, the sessions are organized and conducted by your child’s ABA Therapist without needing active participation from the parent. This gives parents the flexibility to go about their daily duties while knowing their child’s behavioral needs are addressed in the place he/she spends the most time. The home setting offers opportunities for us to teach variety of skills that may not be suitable at our center, including: toilet training, sleep training, food toleration, hygiene routines, chores, independent play and sibling interactions.
IN-HOME THERAPY CAN ADDRESS SKILLS THAT MAY NOT BE OBSERVED AT OUR CENTER, INCLUDING:
Parents get to see the interactions between their child and therapist; they can also witness new and appropriate behaviors the child may not demonstrate without the therapist there.
While an adult must be onsite, parent participation in the session is not required, the ABA therapist will keep the child engaged and learning while the parent can take care of other responsibilities.
Covered by insurance the same as center-based therapy and allows for more opportunities for parent education which is required by insurance.
Fun & Collaboration
We pride ourselves on using play-based, naturalistic strategies to teach children and create positive therapeutic relationships. We let kids be kids while encouraging them to communicate and behave in a way that will promote independence and allow for more social opportunities with others.
Our BCBAs regularly communicate with each child’s therapy team members, including: Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Social Workers, Teachers, Parents and/or other caregivers. We see the importance in having consistency across goals and addressing the individual needs of each child as a whole.
