Founder & Executive Director
Vasilikitsa (Kitsa) Antonopoulos received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Science & Disorders in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Communication Science & Disorders in 2004, from Saint Louis University. After graduating, she gained extensive experience in pediatric outpatient hospitals, early childhood programs, private practices, and Autism clinics.
In 2010, Kitsa founded Step by Step Care Group, which transitioned in 2016 to Lumiere Children's Therapy, a pediatric therapeutic practice focusing on a multidisciplinary approach to children's therapy, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, and behavioral therapy.
As owner and Executive Director of Lumiere, Kitsa makes it a point to create programs and curriculums for her clients that fit their needs. She developed and implemented a customized therapeutic preschool program that is designed to support children and families who do not fit into traditional pre-K programs. Kitsa also added programming in the form of therapeutic playgroups which support children’s overall developmental needs while focusing on social function, emotional intelligence and skill development. She works tirelessly to make things successful for her clients, to understand their needs and goals and to create countless “magic moments” for families. Kitsa believes that a strong family unit is essential for the overall progress and development of the families and children they serve.
Kitsa is licensed and certified in the state of Illinois for Speech Pathology and with the Illinois Early Intervention system in assessment and therapy. She received her certificate of clinical competency in 2004. Kitsa is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, Illinois Speech-Language Hearing Association, Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences, the Jesuit Honors Society and a 5-year member and 3-year board member of the Entrepreneurs Organization, Chicago Chapter. She is also an advisory board member and committee member of a gifted children’s preschool in Chicago.
Kitsa's vision and purpose for Lumiere was inspired by a quote she read, which she wrote down on a napkin and still carries with her today:
